Swimming Lessons From Friendly Faces

Too often, swimming instructors are just another impersonal face in the crowd. We want to be certain that the people you work with are kind and approachable, and all of our instructors strive to be exactly that. Scott Karsen Aquatics proudly provides swimming classes in Greenwich, Connecticut, for everyone from children as young as six months old to fully functioning adults. Our swimming lessons go over everything from the concept of water phobias to advanced swimming techniques. We teach all the strokes, whether you choose to take the lessons in a private, semi-private, or group setting.

Lessons for All Levels

Whether you are a beginner or an expert, we help you become a better swimmer. While we primarily teach new swimmers, we have trained athletes for everything up to triathlons. Advanced swimmers learn all the best tools to improve breathing, arm strokes, and kicking techniques. Our experts evaluate your swimming style and will custom build their lessons to improve on it.

Fully Certified and Ready To Teach

By selecting us to instruct you, you are selecting individuals with over 25 years of experiences in the aquatics industry. Each and every one of our employees is fully lifeguard-certified, which includes first aid and CPR certification through the American Red Cross®. We're experts in water safety, so you and your loved ones are safe in our hands. Contact us today for an estimate.

Children Swimming

Developed for children 6 months to 3 years of age, Parent / Child Aquatics helps young children get ready to swim by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help kids learn elementary swimming skills, including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, and underwater exploration. Children will also practice confidence building water activities. Parents will also work with their children to practice safely jumping into the water and swimming back to the side of the pool. This program serves as a bridge into our Learn-to-Swim program as many of the skills covered in our Level 1 program are introduced. Classes meet for 30 minutes over 8-12 weekly sessions.

  • Learn various ways to enter and exit the water in a safe manner.
  • Feel comfortable in the water.
  • Explore submerging the mouth, nose, eyes, and completely submerging.
  • Explore buoyancy on the front and back positions.
  • Change body position in the water.
  • Learn how to play safely in water.
  • Establish expectation for adult supervision.
  • Explore submerging in a rhythmic pattern.
  • Glide on the front and back with assistance.

Scott Karsen Aquatics offers a progressive 5-level Learn-to-Swim program unlike anything offered by other learn to swim programs. Our program closely mirrors the American Red Cross (ARC) program. Designed for children 2 years of age all the way up to adults, students progress through the levels at their own pace, mastering the skills in one level before advancing to the next. Children are placed into classes by age and ability and class size for this age is limited to 3-6 children per instructor (depending on the skill level of the swimmers.) We offer classes for all swimming levels - from the inexperienced to the most advanced swimmers. Each level of our Learn-to-Swim Program also includes training in basic water safety and emergency response. Our small-group lessons promote safety, fun, and friendship. We love incorporating a social aspect into swimming - an activity that is often thought of as an individual sport. The result is an environment where children encourage, support, and learn from one another. Quite simply… Children having a blast swimming while learning an important life skill!!!

Private / Semi-Private lessons are offered for children 2 years of age through adults looking to learn to swim, competitive swimmers looking to improve their strokes, or triathletes looking to gain an advantage by improving their stroke technique. Private lessons are recommended for children who may be more successful with one-on-one instruction rather than in a group setting. For learn-to-swim level participants, the chance to spend 30 minutes in a one-on-one situation allows for maximum attention. It may offer a more conducive learning environment and lead to quicker improvement. Private lessons are also great for adults as we can adapt the lessons to the individual needs and specific goals of each swimmer.

Scott Karsen Aquatics offers open-enrollment year-round on a rolling basis! In conducting our program this way, we find it affords tremendous flexibility to both students and instructors. Our instructors are completely at liberty to evaluate their students during each and every lesson. When we see the cues that tell us a student is ready for their next skill set or level of curriculum... we simply introduce it! Our students' development is never constrained by an artificial calendar. Our swim lessons offer more personal instruction and a progressive curriculum for children who are ready to take the plunge! Along with increased comfort in the water, children learn safety skills, breath control, proper body position, and basic arm and leg movements. Through a more structured class setting, swimmers begin to independently follow the lead of the instructor.

We are extremely proud of our program and cordially invite you to schedule an observation visit to one of our classes in progress and see first-hand, the special connection our students have developed with us.

We are also so confident that you will absolutely love our swim program that, your first lesson is ALWAYS free!!!
